How to use Play for Warhammer: The Old World

Last updated:

Play on a The Old World list keeps the roster in front of you during the game: wounds on units, magic, phase checklists, army rules, and victory points. You do not export a frozen copy. The same list you built is the list you tap. The Old World list builder is in beta.

Open The Old World lists

Open Play from the list

  1. Save an Old World list. Build a The Old World list first. Play opens from that saved roster.
  2. Tap Play. Open the list and tap Play at the top. You do not leave the roster.
  3. Mark wounds on units. The Units tab is the table view. Mark damage on each selection as models die.
  4. Use Magic, Phases, and Rules. Magic lists wizards and lores. Phases walks Strategy, Movement, Shooting, and Combat. Rules holds army special rules.

What each tab is for

  • Units. The table view. Mark damage. See unit strength and the army break point.
  • Magic. Wizards and the lores you picked on the list.
  • Phases. Strategy, Movement, Shooting, Combat. Checklists for charges, panic, combat result, and break tests.
  • Rules. Army special rules for this roster.

Age of Sigmar Play is a different turn structure. This page is The Old World only. Build the list first: how to build a The Old World army list.

What Play does not replace

The full rules stay in the official books. Play is a table companion for the list you wrote. Confirm spells, combat, and victory with the publications you are using.

Can I track a The Old World game in Play?

Yes. Open a saved Old World list and tap Play. Track wounds on units, magic, phase checklists (Strategy, Movement, Shooting, Combat), army rules, and victory points.
